New Product Development - a case of Engineering Projector (1)

Briefing

This project is about engineering projector which adopt DLP solution projecting 10,000 lumen with WUXGA or 1080p resolution. It takes around 1.5 month to enter MP stage.

This what called HS series is exist. (2022/10/29)


Key challenge

Critical tasks in PVT stage are like:

1. Control certificates’ registration schedule and labels’ version as info showing should comply with cert requirements.

2. Arrange work-order and capacity with manufacture for upcoming PVT pivot run.

3. After PR, some issue may be observed. Team should list them and track until all is resolved.


It may have some issues enrolled and not been solved yet in DVT stage, with conditional approved issued by the client, they should be resolved in PVT stage. Hence, (work around) solutions should be introduced in PVT. Yet, most of them are not critical (or the client won’t agree to proceed to PVT), risks usually are in middle or low level, make limit impact to the schedule.


As the next stage is MP, the shipping date usually set by the account manager already. Then PM need to communicate with the manufacture for their capacity in following weeks. Once PVT sample get the approval from the client, work order should be executed as soon as possible to hit the target (shipping) date.


Summary

As a project manager. Tasks in PVT will be less than DVT. Main is to get the following work order ready so the production can go on time once the team receive approval from the client.
